Chinese workers fly to Georgia for expressway construction
CHANGSHA, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- An aircraft carrying 142 workers on Friday took off from Changsha, central China's Hunan Province, to participate in the construction of an expressway in Georgia.
It is the first international chartered flight from China to Georgia since the resumption of work and production following the COVID-19 pandemic, and also the first international chartered flight from Hunan for the purpose of work and production resumption.
Managers, technicians, designers, and other employees from the Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group Co. Ltd. were among the workers for the Georgia E60 expressway project.
The expressway is an important project along the Belt and Road in terms of the connectivity of Eurasia. Construction of the project started in July 2019.
The workers had undergone nucleic acid tests twice before departure.
Yang Hongwei, chairman of the group, said the flight is of great significance for enterprises in Hunan to promote the resumption of work and production, strengthen their confidence in overseas development, and deepen cooperation along the Belt and Road. Enditem
